Commercial Intensive
Why This Class?
Offered four times a year, the Commercial Intensive class is an on-camera commercial acting class designed for actors who have previous acting training and experience or are just beginning in the professional world of auditioning for commercials. Actors at every level are welcome to take our commercial classes.
What to Expect
In this 3-hours-per-week of instruction, we tackle many obstacles that may come up in your commercial auditions.
1) Week 1 – A Scripted Dialogue Spot. The copy is provided at the start time of class. You will have 30 minutes to prepare it. Slating techniques and how to button/tag your commercial spot are covered as well. Each actor works the same spot twice on camera before and after adjustments are given. A playback of all works is seen throughout the class.
2) Week 2 – A Reaction Spot & an Improvised Group Spot. The spot explanation & direction are provided “in the room” at the start time of class. Each actor works the same spot twice on camera before and after adjustments are given. A playback of all work is seen throughout the class.
3) Week 3 – A Spokesperson Spot. The copy is provided at the start time of class. You will have 30 minutes to prepare it. Each actor works the same spot twice on camera before and after adjustments are given. A playback of all work is seen throughout the class.
4) Week 4 – A partnered Scripted Dialogue Spot (with props!) The copy is provided at the start time of class. You will have 30 minutes to prepare both roles with your partner.
We will then end our Intensive with an Interview Spot. The spot explanation and direction are provided “in the room.” Each actor works the same spot twice on camera before & after adjustments are given. A playback of all work is seen throughout the class.
